The little joke in the video stems from Swedish House Mafia and their track ‘One’. This was a big club hit that sped up a looping bass drum sample into an audio rate tone and then the main riff was made from that. That’s what I’m doing here with a looping sample chopped up into increasingly short loops to form a steady tone then using the pitch manipulation (which is wide ranging and amazing quality!) to create perfectly 1v/oct tracking new synth tones, really cool. The joke about Pharrell needing to sing on it so the radio will play the track (it’s just a video demo patch, no real ‘tracks’) is down to the track ‘One’ having Pharrell added to a version of the track and then radio playing the track everywhere, all day for a long time. I thought I best explain that as I know some of you won’t be interested in or follow much from the “pop world”. Just having some fun with the patch, it’s a great way to create new tones.
