Here’s some fun with pinging a vintage test equipment filter. It’s the passive bandpass octave filter “Type 1613” from Bruel & Kjaer. It weights a tonne, not a metric tonne, a deceptively heavy music gear tonne, like holding a baby or breeze block in one hand. Pinging it with a short trigger then create a feedback loop around it to simulate what would normally be a resonance control on an active filter this allowed me to adjust the decaying tail and length of the percussive notes. There’s great low end, clave like percussion and through some Eurorack patching it becomes a quirky part of a beat too.
