Been 3 months now since the last synth jam! I’ve actually had this ready for months and a few more. But just trying to keep things updated and uploaded in a more regular fashion than dumping loads of content on the page and once then having to wait a while for anything at all. Steady stream of videos each week seems to make most sense.
Had some fun with this one creating some drums and a couple of synth parts playing off each other full patch notes below.
PATCH NOTES
Drums
Bass drum is Mutable Instruments Peaks going into a Manhattan Analog CP3 mixer.
Snare drum is the second channel of Peaks going into the same CP3 mixer.
The Hi Hats are the Hex Inverter Mutant HiHat going into a second CP3 mixer this time on the Manhattan Analog SVVCF.
Synth 1
The first synth part is Mutable Instruments Braids mode in ZPKF mode. The output is split with the first signal path straight into a Doepfer A-199 spring reverb with a large tank then into the first CP3 mixer to be mixed with the kick and snare. The second signal path from Braids output goes into Mutable Instruments Clouds. Clouds is taking texture modulation from an Erica Synths Polivoks VCO which is modulated by a second Polivoks VCO. Clouds is then taking modulation of it’s dry / wet blend from the XAOC Batumi. This then outputs into a Fonitronik Cascade used as a final output mixer.
Synth 2
The second synth is Mutable Instruments Elements. The timbre of the mallet, dampening and position are modulated by various Batumi outputs. The brightness level is modulated from a Frequency Central System X Sample and Hold with it’s clock / gate coming the same source as the main sequence for the notes so you get per note changes.
Sequencing
All the sequencing is handled by the Mutable Instruments Grids. Using Mutable Instruments Frames I have 4 different rhythms set for the 3 outputs on Grids along with added variation from the Chaos function. The keyframes set on Frames are modulated from an XAOC Devices Moskwa Sequencer which has it’s output attenuated with an RYO Airtenuator.
Grids channel 1 triggers the Bass drum
Grids channel 2 triggers the Snare drum
Grids channel 3’s output goes into a Mutable Instruments Branches and those two outputs go into the Closed Hi Hat and Open Hi Hat on the Mutant Hi Hats. The accent output on channel 3 also goes to trigger the accent on the Mutant Hats.
Branches is normalled to it’s second channel and the first output of channel 2 triggers Elements and the second output triggers Braids. Making sure the two sound sources don’t trigger at the same time.
The pitch changes for Braids and Elements are taking from the trigger going to Braids This moves through the 8 steps on the RYO VC Sequencer. The sequencer’s output is attenuated and goes into an ADDAC 207 Quantizer which sends pitch information to both Braids and Elements.
