Bit of a gap between the synth jams as overview videos has taken over entirely! So here’s a rough and rowdy jam to kick in back into touch. This started as a nice 3 voice FM Operator and just went a bit nuts. So if you’re into noise, here you go!
PATCH NOTES –
The left most Intellijel Dixie is the main oscillator that is sending a wave out to the final mixer. The sine wave goes to the top channel of an STG .mix. Linear FM on the oscillator comes from the sine wave on the middle Dixie VCO and that middle Dixie VCO is taking linear FM from the right most Dixie’s sine wave. In FM operator style fashion.
The right most Dixie also sends it’s triangle wave into the linear FM input (with attenuator) on the Dixie controller and the middle Dixie’s triangle wave goes into the Dixie Controller’s exponential FM input with attenuator.
The left most (main) Dixie sends a pulse wave into the sync input on the middle Dixie and the Dixie controller is receiving pulse wave modulation from a ramp wave on the Bubblesound uLFO.
The uLFO also provides modulation through the left most Dixie’s 1v/oct input through a Malekko VCA module heavily attenuating the shaped sine before hitting the 1v/oct input. The shaped sine is modulated from the saw wave on a Livewire AFG set to a slow LFO. The uLFO also receives FM modulation from the triangle wave on the Livewire for variation in the speed of the LFO.
The Dixie controller is receiving wavetables (at various rates wiggled throughout) from a Synthesis Tech E350 going through a Malekko VCA for simple attenuation (move manually through the video). The E350 Z output goes into the VCA and the E350 has sync input from the AFG’s sync output. The E350 is also modulated at the FM input with the saw wave from the uLFO.
Finally the rightmost and last Dixie oscillator receives linear FM from a Frequency Central System X Sample & Hold / Noise module with a lot of on board LAG to smooth out the modulation.
So the 3 Dixie’s feed through from right to left modulating each others FM inputs while also modulating the Dixie controllers FM inputs. The uLFO and AFG modulate each other and in turn modulate the Dixies and the E350 providing modulation the the leftmost main Dixie oscillator.
Beyond this patch I took the main Dixie’s triangle output into a Ring Modulator (graphics laden project box, overview video coming soon!) and took the middle Dixie’s saw wave as the second ring modulator input. The ring modulator outputs to the STG .mix channel 2 and I have used a stackable at the main output to mult. the signal into the Erica Synths Tube Delay&Chorus module which create some chorus style modulation and feedback.
Finally a Behringer Echo Machine is used for reverse tape delay style FX before recording and a hall reverb was added at around 7% wet for some stereo width before exporting the audio.
