Here we have the new MTX8 Pin Matrix from Future Sound Systems. This is an 8 input, 8 output pin matrix device that can route and mix/sum signals and create feedback paths. It’s an active powered unit that runs internally on +/- 15V rails making it suitable for guitars, line level, studio gear, FX pedals and modular. It works with not just audio but control voltages and modulation as well as clocks, gates and triggers. The guitar version has a high gain JFET pre amp with low end roll off, aggressive tone control and bags of level on top. Flicking in the clipping and we have tubescreamer style overdrive that’s responsive and dynamic for not just guitar but synths and other audio too.

For those interested there’s the MTX9 Eurorack version which is available in passive (EMS Synthi VCS3 style) or active versions for mounting and powering in a Eurorack system.
