After a day of wave wrapping distortion for the 18th, then a nice smooth cinematic ambient day with the Jupiter Xm and Ecosystem I thought we’d get the week – and #JAMUARY2020 – kicking with some distortion again. This time I have the DPW MOG 4 Band Distortion, which is a Eurorack module that takes modular inputs (or guitar/line level through the hi Z 1/4″ jack) and processing them with gain and volume controls while splitting controls across 4 frequency bands, low, low mid, high mid and high frequencies. Each band can be isolated (i.e. eliminated to silence) and there’s a gate input for turning the distortion on and off. Either clocking it on and off in time with your sequences or up to audio rates for new overtones alongside the distortion. It’s a great sounding bit of kick that’s proving useful for anything from warm, through soft and fuzzy to hard distortion.

#JAMUARY is still going strong, 20 days of videos so far which feels pretty nutty but I’m determined to get to 31 days with a daily video for the end of the month. Wish me luck!
