What a treat it was to see A Box In The Sea playing live at Velocity. If you’ve seen any of his videos before you’ll know what an absolute visual and audible treat they are. With carefully considered patches, exploring sound creation and manipulation in beautiful lit and laid out spaces. This set sees Paul Lebel work with a small system generating a range of electronic soundscapes and beds, granular textures and sample manipulation and more.
Paul was generating and working with his own visuals live in the performance. So unlike the other performances these were directly influenced by the artist live on stage. Working with Paul we have both the live video from Velocity and some of those visuals edited into the footage too.

Velocity was the first event large scale trade show, community and performance based from Modular Seattle and Patchwerks in (you guessed it!) Seattle, Washington on the Pacific Northwest of the USA. I worked with them as a media partner to create videos while in the USA (see DivKid’s West Coast Adventure – videos soon) sharing the event performances and workshops as well as making my own videos. There’s LOTS more to come.

Velocity was sponsored by the good people at Bjooks, KORG, 4ms Company, Mordax Systems, Roland and WMD. It’s thanks to the support and sponsorships of good companies and people that events like this can happen.
