Hello,
if you’re reading this thanks for coming to our site to check things out. I thought I’d copy a Patreon post across to the blog here as a little thank you for the past 12 years since we first created our YouTube channel. Info below. Thank you all for the support over the years.
Hello,
today I was surprised with YouTube telling me the channel is 12 years old.

As some of you may know making videos wasn’t something I’d done before, or something I ever really intended to become a ‘thing‘ other than just sharing a passion and love for something I was excited about and I’ve been incredibly lucky to still be doing that now. Sharing in my love for interesting gear, techniques, making and manipulating sound and also working with and supporting many of the fantastic people that make up our small little modular thing. I found modular, became obsessively interested fuelled by the people involved and wanted to contribute and share in the whole thing.
So I’m taking YouTubes silly little cake and candle notification as good reason to thank you all again for your support. DivKid – as a thing (I’ve never really seen it as me individually, in fact it started as a music production duo) – is now a family affair. With Mrs Div helping out with the business and you’ve seen the OG DivBaby twisting switches and swaying to beats in videos before, DivBaby the 2nd may make an appearance if she wishes in the future too.
We’re able to keep doing this through your support. Coupled with the financial support that keeps this going we’re hugely motivated by the community so thank you all for sticking with us and continuing to engage and be part of it all.
There’s lots to talk about from over the past 12 years but to highlight a bit of a start and end as far as YouTube is concerned, the first thing I ever uploaded was a quick and frankly crappy, even for back then, phone video in Schneidersladen in Berlin while twisted knobs on the Flame Talking Synth module – VIDEO HERE.
The first actual ‘demo’ was on the Touellskouarn Kea Da Strakal Brulu fuzz module – VIDEO HERE.
And the last demo was on the Four Seas wavetable oscillator by Ferry Island – VIDEO HERE.
When I started I’d never used a camera (no doubt evident), it’s funny to be exposed, in what feels like the dark ages compared to now, learning as I go and things progressing as they have.
Enough ramble, thank you all, see you in the Discord and if anyone’s interest we can chat about the past 12 years over there! Back with more soon.
