DivKid Community Audio Projects

For some time now we’ve ran ‘community audio projects‘ around the videos we make and the more we do them the more people have asked what they are and how they can get involved. So I thought I’d make a quick post and place to update with examples to explain it.

THE DIVKID COMMUNITY

First of all it’s best to mention the DivKid community and what that actually is. Put simply it’s my Patreon supporters. Those that support through patreon.com/divkid from any tier, $1 a month and up, become part of the DivKid community and we host a community space via Discord. Discord access happens automatically for new sign ups (link your Patreon and Discord accounts in your settings) and there’s a great group of people of all experience levels sharing, inspiring and helping each other.

WHAT THE COMMUNITY AUDIO PROJECTS ACTUALLY ARE

So if you’re a Patreon supporter and part of the community we post when new community projects are coming up and you can send in some audio (this could be video too, but an audio file is the norm). If you’re audio suits the video, we send that audio through the module/gear used and that makes it into the final demo video. With that you’ll get credit for the sounds with your name in the video and a link to your page/site. Everyone watching also gets a richer, wider range of sounds in the video and we get to shout about our the community in a nice way.

EXAMPLES

Here’s some of the videos that we’ve done this with before, in the YouTube descriptions you’ll see Patreon Supporters credited by name and with a link to their pages.

Community sounds in the delay & reverb of Cosmic Debris
Community audio processed in Befaco’s IROI
Community audio used for examples in the Poly Effects Trails video
Community members sent in loops and one shots to show the sample playback of Samples II
We used the sound of Blue Nautilus’ Sitar (Jonas of Seaside Modular) through this tape delay
There’s LOADS of community members audio in this one, spread and lush in this Chorus module
We (the community) got into compression and hearing how it works for each persons audio in this one.

GET INVOLVED

As always if you have any questions just ask, join patreon.com/divkid to get involved and we’ll see you in the Discord!
